Смертную казнь в Китае сделают гуманнее

Смертную казнь в Китае сделают гуманнее Китайские официальные лица заявляют о планомерном переходе на более гуманный способ смертной казни: в перспективе расстрелы будут полностью заменены летальной инъекцией.

Об этом заявил зампредседателя Верховного народного суда Китая Цзян Синчанг.

По его словам, этот шаг был позитивно воспринят осужденными и членами их семей. По сей день самым распространенным способом лишения жизни в Китае является расстрел: приговоренного ставят на колени и стреляют в затылок.

Китай не публикует официальной статистики о количестве вынесенных смертных приговоров в стране.

Но по подсчетам правозащитной организации Amnesty International, Китай казнит больше людей, чем любая другая страна в мире - в 2006 году там было приведено в исполнение 1010 смертных приговоров.

В числе преступлений, которые караются смертью - коррупция, убийства, изнасилования, распространение наркотиков.

Второе место в мире после Китая по числу казней занимает Иран. В 2006 году в стране были повешены, по меньшей мере, 215 человек, в том числе семеро несовершеннолетних.

Министр юстиции Китая Сяо Янг заявляет, что китайские власти работают над сокращением числа смертных казней. В частности, в прошлом году Верховный суд предписал судьям быть более аккуратными, вынося высшую меру наказания.

Однако министр юстиции отверг возможность полного отказа от смертной казни, ссылаясь на необходимость обеспечения общественной безопасности.
