Шварценеггер хочет устроить массовую амнистию Арнольд Шварценеггер, в должности губернатора Калифорнии, предложил досрочно освободить более 22 тысяч заключенных, которые не представляют большой опасности для общественности.

Как заявляет Шварценеггер, это поможет сберечь бюджет, который и так находиться в кризисном состоянии.

Под амнистию не попадают заключенные, которые совершили преступление на сексуальной почве.

Предложение губернатора было выдвинуто 20 декабря. Оно включает в себя амнистию 22 тысяч 159 заключенных, благодаря чему расходы бюджета сократятся на 256 миллионов долларов. В долгосрочной перспективе, к 2010 году, эта сума составит порядка 780 миллионов долларов.

По мимо самой амнистии, в предложении есть пункт о сокращении более 4 тысяч рабочих мест в тюрьмах и колониях.
